Packing material problems
Suitable conditions for proper sealing of thermal contraction film: time, temperature, pressure (the force used to cut the film with the sealing knife or heating wire) and tension (pulling force).
About sealing temperature
- Overheated sealing: the seal is loose and easy for it to break, there are fine pinholes on the seal and polymers stuck on the sealing knife.
- Proper sealing temperature: the seal is tight, soft and straight, and there are no polymers stuck on the sealing knife.
- Insufficient sealing temperature: there are serrations and/or fine pinholes on the seal, and the seal is loose and difficult to cut off.
Remedies for poor packages
- Melted breaking: Check pinholes, reduce the temperature of the shrinking machine, increase the speed of the shrinking machine, and adjust the wind speed of the shrinking machine.
- Ripples: Film bag size is too large, increase the temperature of the shrinking machine, decrease the speed of the shrinking machine, and increase the wind speed of the shrinking machine.
- Overlarge bevels: Reduce film bag size, reduce the temperature of the shrinking machine, increase the speed of the shrinking machine, and adjust the wind speed in the shrinking machine.
- Insufficient shrink (air blasted): Check pinholes.
Machine operation problems
Frequent problems for thermal shrinking machines
Problem 1: Packages will be creased or broken after being shrunk by the shrinking machine.
Possible causes:
- Creases/The shrinking machine' temperature is insufficient, or the conveyer belt runs too fast.
- Broken bags/The shrinking machine' temperature is insufficient , or the conveyer belt runs too slow.
Remedies:
- Adjust the temperature of the shrinking machine.
- Slow down the conveyer belt to eliminate creases; speed up the conveyer belt to eliminate broken bags.
Frequent problems for L type full Automatic sealing packing machines
Problem 1: L type seal is not tight, it is stuffed, and the package is broken after shrinkage.
Possible causes:
- Sealing knife is insufficiently preheated or is dirty.
- Sealing knife's rubber gasket is displaced, or heatproof paster is not applied.
- Lack of space for the film at the front and rear side of the electric eye device.
- Film is not well installed and fixed.。
Remedies:
- After preheating is completed, test and clean the sealing knife.
- Fix the rubber gasket and stick on the heatproof paster.
- Measure the space prepared for the film at the front and rear side again.
- Reinstall the film and fix it.
Problem 2: Scrap clip does not work smoothly.
Possible causes:
- The chain is worn and rusted.
- The scrap pot belt falls off or is broken.
Remedies:
- Lubricate the chain and make a test run.
- Check the scrap pot belt, replace if it is damaged.
Problem 3: When scrap clip chain is clipping, it fails to hold the upper and lower films evenly.
Possible causes:
- The film size is too small.
Remedies:
- Replace films (the film shall be 6 inches wider than the packing at both sides).
- Adjust the bracket under the material fixers, increase the height of the right fixer if the lower film fails to be held by the clip chain; and increase the height of the left fixer if the upper film fails to be held by the clip chain.
Problem 4. After shrinking, the package has tails
Possible causes:
- The hold down strips at both sides of the conveyer belt do not adjust to suit product size.
Remedies:
- Adjust the hold down strips to suit product size.
Problem 5. At the starting of the machine, the shrink film is broken by pulling.
Possible causes:
- Position of the material fixer on the shrink film device is incorrect.
Remedies:
- In consideration of the product size, measure the half-distance (A) between the upper and lower triangle spreaders, and put the shrink film on the right strutting board at the distance as that of (A).
